Arsen's excellent Gusto EP now receives BTS remix treatment. “Wombat” as the most catchy tune of the original release even gets served twice: First Okoli picks up its deep vibe. Adding kind of a sensual feel, he even provides a whiff of dirtyness. Second is Polarclouds with a more straightforward interpretation of the tune, leading to a Soul-Rave feeling.

Schweine und Diamanten” gets reconstructed by Metasound & Lucius14. The two of them provide what they do best: a grooving version with drifty percussions and a hint of Funk - not without taking a stop at the Blues Bar.

Last but not least Efka grabs for “Wooden Roller”. Even if that might sound trite: the words deep, dark and dirty describe best what happens here. This is definitely one for the minimal ghetto disko!

On February 14th, Efka + Metasound attended Café Smart on Air to give an insight into the BTS label catalogue. The showcase included more than three hours of splendid music, including a pre-recorded DJ mix by Arsen1Computerklub.

With his second release on BTS Arsen1Computerclub supplies us with new material out of his Soundlab.
With "Schweine und Diamanten" comes another Blues-Tech-House-Minimal-Tune that will make you throw up your Arms on the Dancefloor.
"Gusto" and "Wooden Roller" are havin the Arsen-typically Groove, without sounding too constructed, Timeless and Latesummer-sounding is "Wombat" lining up on this impish EP. Most of all characteristic is the subtle humorous and a bit comical mood as the recurrent theme of all the Tracks.
So again we can joyfully dance to a different tune...

Arsen1Computerklub - a name that sounds complicated, but actually it is not. Since 2000 it stands for the unstoppable urge to celebrate electronic music. Who gets to hear Arsen1Computerklub will immerse in a wide range of sounds: from Minimal Techno, Trip-Hop and Nu Jazz to IDM or Glitch there is not a genre omitted.

After a short break of releasing, BREAK THE SURFACE is back to sneak into your ear with some new sounds. We used the last few weeks to realign the sound of our label. Now we move away from Drum & Bass and keep to our long secret love, the 4/4 time rhythms such as Electronic House, Techno, minimal sounds and everything in between.

Efka is our artist for the restart. He is a gifted producer who understands to create smart grooves. With this release he also debuts. It really is about time that his material gets public because a long process of ripening has to be rewarded with a large crop.

For the penultimate BREAK THE SURFACE Radio Show coming up this saturday, we are really glad to get Douglas Greed in the studio for a set and off course a little interview. Douglas released on labels like combination or freude am tanzen. His latest release on lebensfreude is called Deadline featuring Kemo MC.

With BTS004, we are releasing our first remix. For this purpose Drumatic's "Body & Mind" was selected and then remixed by Con.struct and Metasound.

Con.struct's reinterpretation is the right tune for the primetime in the club. He adds his flavour by using grooving drums and a raving bassline. All in all, this creates an energetic drive. Yet he manages to keep the deep vibe of the track. So he melts powerful beats and a deep atmosphere, which is typical for Con.struct.

Metasound headed for something complete different. His remix has a straight bass drum and is more assigned to Tech and Deep House. He left enough space for the sounds and used the samples of the track very sparingly.

In the future, rather 4/4 beats at around 125 bpm are going to be released on BTS.

After having released tunes that are on a very high level for a digital-only release, such as Drumatic's "Sleeveless EP" and Paul SG's "Lost in Halftime" & "Landslide", BTS003 comes up with two remarkable tunes, too.

"Avani" produced by CarlMatthes from Caracas (Venezuela) and Tyler Straub from San Mateo (California) is a Drum&Bass track that is characterized by its autonomy. So the beat shuttles between halftime and laidback but does not commit to one of them. A felicitous and impulsive groove is evolved in combination with Latin percussions. In addition, Indian influences and Asian vocals provide a deep aspect. When the bassline starts after the drop, the tune confidently threads a path between deepness and energetic rhythm.

The track already received DJ-support from London Elektricity, Fabio, DJ Flight and others.

The second tune is another musical contribution by BREAK THE SURFACE artist Paul SG. He provided a quite deep and slightly dreamy piece with "Slippers". However, the funky bassline functions as a good counterpart to the moody atmosphere and therefore the tune is not only intented for listening use but also meant to be played in the clubs.

Both tunes are now available at our own shop and also on beatport, digital tunes, junodownload...

At the moment Con.struct and Metasound are working on a remix of Drumatic's "Body & Mind". As expected Con.struct is going to
reinterpret the tune in Drumfunk-style whereas Metasound is heading for something complete different. His remix will have a straight bass drum and will be more assigned to Tech and Deep House. These are also the styles BREAK THE SURFACE is musically moving to. Metasound is celebrating two premieres besides: not only that it is his first release as a producer, but also his debut on his own label BREAK THE SURFACE.

A new BREAK THE SURFACE radio show coming up this saturday. Metasound will be once again live on air for another 2 hours session in the mix with tech/minimal/deep house stuff.

We are pleased with winning the absolute brilliant tune "Avani" over
to be the third BREAK THE SURFACE release. "Avani" was produced by Carl Matthes from Caracas (Venezuela) and Tyler Straub from San Mateo (California, USA). The track is already receiving a lot of DJ-support from DJs such as London Elektricity and Fabio.

With the second BREAK THE SURFACE release, we present you another talented and aspiring Drum & Bass producer from Germany named Paul SG. As a member of Soulgrifter he already released tunes on labels like Phunkfiction and Sensor. Beside BTS his solo project (as Paul SG) is also signed on Keynote, Sidechain and Digital Colours.

"Lost in Halftime" was produced with a straight, minimal halftime beat and really deep sub-basses. So the tune spreads a refreshing Dubstep-vibe. While listening one has the marvellous chance to fade out the common hustle and bustle. Break the surface seems to be the perfect agenda of "Lost in Halftime".

„Landslide“ also has a minimal style that sticks out by its unique sounding bassline. Hence the track bursts out of normal listening habits, too.

On June 3th both tracks are going to be released in the MP3-shop on www.breakthesurface.net. With a little delay they'll also be available in all common download-shops such as Beatport, Digital-Tunes and Junodownload.

Jedes Jahr im Mai findet die Musikmesse (Pop Up in Leipzig statt. It has begun...

"BREAK THE SURFACE" is now presenting itself as a label and releases music in digital format.
March 4th we are going to release Drumatic's "Sleeveless EP" (BTS001).
The young producer from Chemnitz nearly represents a Calibre of Eastern Germany for us and we are pleased and proud to publish four top-notch tunes produced by him as our first release.

The vibe he creates by using jazz-samples is fantastic and shows how beautiful Drum&Bass music still can sound, without appearing clichéd.

His tunes sound fully developed and are produced to the point. They are paired with excellent arranged and extremely grooving beats. International well-known Artists like Kabuki, Syncopix or Henree already play his tracks for a long time in their sets.

We are very honoured that we can release such marvellous and above all comprehensive tunes on our label.
